ISS veteran with 165 days in space and two spacewalks. Former Chief of the Astronaut Office (2020-2022). At 50, he's the oldest person to travel beyond low Earth orbit. After losing his wife Carroll to cancer in 2020, he considers single parenting his greatest personal achievement.

Born in London, Ontario and raised on a farm near Ailsa Craig. Joined Air Cadets at age 12 and earned his pilot's license at 17. CF-18 combat pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force and NORAD experience. Holds a BSc in Space Science and a master's in Physics from Royal Military College. Selected by CSA in 2009, he was the first non-American to lead a NASA astronaut class. His mission patch features seven sacred animals from Anishinaabe Indigenous teachings.
